McKew loses Bennelong to Libs

The seat of Bennelong in northern Sydney has been claimed by the Liberals.

Sitting member Maxine McKew has suffered a swing against her of between 9 and 10 per cent.

With 48 per cent of the voted counted, Liberal candidate John Alexander has claimed almost 50 per cent of the primary vote.

Ms McKew was a one term member in Bennelong after defeating former prime minister John Howard in the 2007 election.
