Aussie Tough Teens

Tough Aussie teens can finally participate in Tough Mudder, the most anticipated physically challenging obstacle course of the year.

On the 2nd of March 2015 Tough Mudder announced via email they have lowered their minimum participant age limit from 18 years to 16 years, allowing sporting teams, individuals and whole families to participate.

Tough Mudder is a global military themed 20km obstacle course supporting the charity Soldier On and is part of the latest fitness addiction.

Other events such as Operation Blackhawk and Call of the Beast have previously allowed minors to participate and now Tough Mudder is doing the same.

Regulations apply and match that of Operation Blackhawk where the minor must be accompanied by an adult and have a wavier form signed.

Wristbands are used in Tough Mudder to identify participants and spectators however Tough Mudder has not yet released details as to how they will manage minors at the event considering at the finish line a cold beer is waiting.

It is likely Tough Mudder will colour code alternate wristbands for underage minors.

Amongst the dangers in this event besides the usual rolled ankles, electrocution is one of them, emitting 10’000 volts and is considered a more psychological than physical obstacle.

Hopeful Canberran participant Xander Burggraaff is excited to do Tough Mudder later this year with his family, as he missed out last year.

“The rest of my family did it but I couldn’t do it due to the age restriction, which was 18 at the time.  I’m keen to see how fit I am and get my orange headband at the end”.
