Climbing Mount Taylor
Have you ever seen a fat mountain climber? No
Ever driven past Mount Taylor and observed the excessive amount of cars parked and thought what an earth it going on? Yes
I recently found out.
Mountain walking is becoming a trendy way to keep fit, whether you do it solo or do it with a friend and struggle to walk up side by side on the path up the mountain without accidently pushing the other off the mountain or cliff face.
Mount Taylor is 1.6km each way if you are walking up. You are able to walk around the mountain, although why one would anyone want to walk around a mountain and not up where the view is, where there is at least some reward for what you have just put yourself through.
One simply walks up without trying to sound as though they have been a smoker for the past twenty years and in the process makes mutual friends because you have all made the stupid mistake of thinking this was a great idea.
The best thing about Mount Taylor is walking back down the mountain and smiling at everyone who is still on their way up.
A downside for those wanting to run up the mountain at 05:30am is that it’s so dark outside you cannot actually see the path and risk face planting unless you wear an attractive head torch that both makes you look like a Cyclopes and also blinds fellow passing mountaineers.
Mount Taylor and mountain walking in general is perfect for those fitness enthusiasts or those wanting to get fit or lose weight who like a bit of a challenge with a great reward at the end.
Reaching the top of a mountain regardless if you have done it 100 times you still finish with a sense of achievement and a killer view. A fast paced walk can see an individual to the top in under 20 minutes.
