Logan Review

After 17 years as the Wolverine, Hugh Jackman farewells his beloved character in an epic finale for the X-Men series.

It’s 2029 and the mutants are all but extinct as Logan hides Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) somewhere on the Mexican border. Tending to Professor X’s ageing brain and seizures becomes a lot harder for Logan when a young girl, a mutant engineered as a weapon, turns to him for help.

The hunt is on, as Logan and Professor X try to outrun the American Government and get the young mutant over the Canadian border. Blood is shed, secrets are revealed and lives are lost in an epic journey which will keep you on the edge of your seat.

After the success of Deadpool, Logan is the first film in the X-Men series to have an R rating. This has allowed James Mangold to use a higher level of violence to portray the Wolverine as a killing machine.

Graphic fight scenes make the film more intense, giving the viewers a carefully honed antipathy for the villains as they brutally murder lovable characters.

Jackman and Stewart are the only two remaining actors from the original X-Men film, released 17 years ago, and like the actors themselves their characters have aged over the years.

If you are planning on watching the film, expect the hairs on the back of your hand to rise as the Wolverine fights his last fight while Professor X sits in his chair for the last time. Fans won’t just be preparing to farewell two beloved characters, but a whole generation of X-Men films. This is a must watch movie for all Marvel fans!

Rating: 4/5
