The Chainsmokers Memories…Of What Works
The Chainsmokers released their long awaited debut album Memories…Do Not Open in early April 2017.
The EDM Duo consisting of members Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart first rose to fame in 2014 with their tongue-in-cheek single #Selfie. Since then the pair have gone on to release a string of successful, chart topping, singles.
The pair have also worked with a number of artists, most notably, Coldplay, Daya, Halsey and Rozes. Their debut album is no different, this time, teaming up with the likes of Emily Warren, Florida Georgia Line and Jhene Aiko as well.
Since the release of Memories…Do Not Open critics have slammed the album for its bland and repetitive formula and the poor vocals of duo member Andrew Taggart on many of the tracks. Many listeners have also taken to twitter to share their thoughts of the album.
Chainsmokers really really need to feature someone else singing on every song. This is getting silly.

Despite the critiscism the album has still gone on to reach number one on the iTunes charts in 52 countries.
While it can be argued the album sounds similar to the singles previously released by the duo, it’s a sound that works, with their music charting across the globe. Any fan of the Chainsmokers work will surely be satisfied by what is on offer with the duos debut album.
Memories…Do Not Open is out now.
