Thor: The Dark World DVD Review

DVD cover

Thor (Chris Hemsworth) returns and faces a new threat, an ancient race lead by Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) who is hell-bent on plunging everything into darkness.  Reunited with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), and together with the help of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) they must save the universe.

Thor’s third outing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has it all, that trademark Marvel humour, combined with thrilling action sequences and unexpected twists which kept me entertained all the way through.

The DVD has two special features:

The Captain America feature provides an inside behind the scenes look into what’s to come for Steve Rogers.  It’s a real reward for fans that are looking forward to seeing how he has dealt with the aftermath of “The Avengers”.

The deleted scene is a nice addition between Thor and Jane which demonstrates their relationship dynamic of working together.

The limited special features on DVD are disappointing when you compare it to that of the Blu-ray which has seven deleted scenes, audio commentary, several featurettes and a new Marvel One-Shot.

If you’re looking for an entertaining action movie with an extra taste of what is to come in the Marvel Universe then the DVD is for you.  However, if you’re a Marvel fan and want to delve deeper into the Nine Realms then the Blu-ray is a better investment.

Thor: The Dark World is out now on DVD and Blu-ray.
