Top Five Celebrity Endorsed Apps

Being in the spotlight 24/7, celebrities try to look their best in the flesh and also online. Whether it is to improve their physical appearance, their Instagram account or their online persona, there is an app for that.

Fans and followers on social media show their allegiance to their favourite celebrities by researching and downloading the apps they use to be just like them. Here is a list of the top five apps celebs LOVE to use.

ONE: JENNER/KARDASHIAN

Kylie-JennerEver wonder how Kylie Jenner and the rest of the Jenner/Kardashian family upload flawless selfies all the time? Well, it’s (apparently) all because of the ‘Perfect365’ photo editing app. This app allows both girls and guys to change their face shape, enhance all facial features, apply instant makeup and even test out a new hair-do.

Australian supermodel and mum Miranda Kerr is known to use the ‘Pocket Yoga’ app to keep her bikini body in shape. Obviously along with eating well, she is keen on yoga to maintain her fitness, and named this app as one of her favourites. ‘Pocket Yoga’ allows you to choose a difficulty level and the duration of one of the 27 different sessions available on the app. It has a voice over which guides the user through each position as well as inhalation and exhalation. The user can change the music provided, or play their own music from their device. The app includes a wide array of features which make yoga at home both motivating and enjoyable.

THREE: NEIL PATRICK HARRIS

NPHActor and comedian Neil Patrick Harris has confessed to using the app ‘Hitchcock Storyboard Composer’, now re-named ‘Cinemek Storyboard Composer’. This $18.99 application is only compatible with Apple products, but offers practice opportunities for avid directors, photographers, producers, writers and film students. The user is able to create storyboards with photos taken on the Apple device, including zoom and pan features. It allows the user to playback what they have created, and shuffle around the order of shots which helps to generate new ideas and approaches to different stories.

FOUR: BLAKE LIVELY

blake livelyStylish actress Blake Lively says that her most used app would have to be ‘Hipstamatic’. She says it “turns normal photos into art” and “the quality is truly superb”. It’s a photo editing app which includes the use of different filters, flashes, lenses and film which all create a unique effect. Blake Lively is apparently a foodie, and she appreciates the Loftus lens which makes her food look extra delicious. The app is $2.49 from the app store and is compatible with Apple devices only.

Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, also known as Lorde is a singer songwriter from Auckland, New Zealand. She is known to be using the ‘WWF Together’ application, which is an interactive app created by the World Wildlife Fund. In an interview with ELLE Australia, she mentioned the app and said “This one’s only for the iPad, but it’s kind of the best thing ever. It can entertain a group of teenagers just as well as it can entertain a group of 5 year olds.” The app is compatible with some Androids and Apple iPads only and is free of charge. It includes endangered animal interactive stories, a 3D interactive globe which tells the user populations of animals, their habitats, how close those animals are to the user and many more animal facts. It even includes instructions on how to make animals with origami.

Celebrity endorsed apps undoubtedly generate traffic and even though the celebs say they use them, the question is: do they really? Or is it just a method to enhance their perceived personality?

These celebrities quite possibly have tested the apps themselves, but how religiously they use them- I have my doubts. Surely Miranda Kerr does’t rely on a yoga app to maintain her supermodel body.

What I do know is that I would not be using the ‘Perfect365’ app to enhance my looks. If I had the money the Jenner/Kardashian family has, I would inject my lips and have a pout like Kylie as well…
