Groovin the Moo hits all of the right notes at UC

By Jackson Howard

More than 15,000 people attended the sold out Groovin the Moo festival at the University of Canberra in April.

Groovin the Moo is Australia’s only regional touring musical festival, stopping at six towns over three massive weekends.

Festival organizers have praised the success of the festival’s opening weekend, which sold out for the first time in its six years at Canberra.

In a statement ACT Policing praised the event organisers as being well prepared and making it a safe and enjoyable occasion for all who attended.

“ACT Police took two people into custody; one for intoxication and disorderly behavior and one person for assault after a security guard was assaulted directing an intoxicated person to leave the event,” the statement said.

Police made five drug seizures during the festival but were generally satisfied with the overall behavior of the sold out crowd.

Canberra was the second stop for the festival after Maitland before it headed to Oakbank, Bendigo, Townsville and Bunbury.

Groovin the Moo and the University of Canberra are already looking ahead to next year’s festival, promising to make it bigger and better.
