Amastro is Back in Town for GTM 2017

Get your glitter and fedora hats ready because Grooving the Moo 2017 is set to hit the University of Canberra this Sunday, May 7th.

Playing alongside some massive international acts such as the Wombats, Dillion Francis and Milky Chance, some local Canberra musicians have managed to nab themselves a spot on this years lineup.

Amastro (Angus Murphy) is a 22 year old born and bred Canberran. He is currently living in Sydney to pursue his dreams working in the music industry. Amastro has played the likes of national festivals before such as Splendour in the Grass, Yours and Owls and has also supported acts such as Sticky Fingers and Boo Seeka on tour,  but this weekend he is back in his hometown to play to the festival crowd he grew up with.

Q: What is it like playing to a home crowd?

A: The best part is seeing support from people you didn’t expect it from. People you weren’t always the closest with, but who come back show after show and just to support me. It is so special coming back to a community that supports each other it’s so good feeling at home after you’ve been away for so long.

Q: Who is your favourite artist on the GTM lineup?

A: Milky Chance, I can’t wait to see them!  I’m gunna steal a dance from my girlfriend to the song ‘Stolen Dance’.

Q; Does playing GTM have a greater significance to you than other gigs because you grew up attending the festival yourself?

A: Yes massively, we always attended GTM year after year when we were in high school and growing up obviously I always wanted to be a musician and always wanted to do something in music. So GTM was always a massive inspiration for me. To be coming down this weekend to achieve this goal and reach this milestone is absolutely surreal.

Q: You’ve recently released the song “Don’t let me” with Sara Flint who is another Canberra local, is there any chance she’ll get on stage with you?

A: There is probably 100% chance.  Sara is great, she has been absolutely killing it lately and her voice is just amazing, so she will defiantly be up there.

Q: Do you have any other surprises install for the crowd on Sunday?

A: Yes there are some surprises, I’ve got some new music and some songs I’ve never played before. You’ll have to wait and see.

To jump around to Amastro‘s smooth electronic sound this weekend hit up the Plot stage from 8pm.
