Tiny Little Houses 'Idiot Proverbs' Album Review

Last month the Australian band Tiny Little Houses released their Debut album ‘Idiot Proverbs’, an album which slams the sayings of “follow your dreams”, “you can be anything” and, “life is a blessing”. This lo-fi folk rock pop band is known for its self-bashing lyrics that discuss this generation’s disparity and low self esteem, highlighting the last 50-years of society’s expectations as the cause for such disorientation in the youth of today.

Woahh the vinyl is soo sick… actually sounds like a rock record ! Pre-order today or pick one up from @redeyerecords on Friday @ohjeanrecords on Saturday or @sonic_sherpa Sunday and ill write something on it in person if you want! X

The unflinching evaluation of the millennial condition and social commentary, which is the focal theme of the Melbourne bands album is admirably cut throat; with the indie pop and slack rock songs which form this album echoing the familiar sounds of the 90’s rock that we all know and love (Think ‘Teenage Dirtbag‘ by Wheatus).

Very excited that @triple_j have made 'Idiot Proverbs' the first feature album of 2018! Tune in all this week to hear the album ahead of its release this Friday Jan, 12! We will also be talking about the album with Gen and Lewis this afternoon at 4:30 pm on triple j! http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/featured-music/feature-albums/tiny-little-houses—idiot-proverbs/9306940

This album consists of 10 songs, with the most popular being ‘Short Hair’, ‘Garbage Bin’ and ‘Entitled Generation’. Their lyrics discuss being an outcast and living life day-by-day. For anyone that is listening to this band for the first time, it may be off-putting just how cynical they are, but I see it as a breath of fresh air having songs that don’t revolve around finding love in a club.
Even if you aren’t a millennial going through a quarter-life crisis, ‘Idiot Proverbs‘ has a relatable scream along song for you.
