ALBUM REVIEW: Alison Wonderland – AWAKE
Since her 2015 debut album Run, the Sydney-born Producer and DJ has been riding the huge wave of her self-made success as the highest billed female DJ in Coachella’s history.
Alison Wonderland’s highly anticipated second album AWAKE dropped on 6 April and delivered her biggest work to date, both sonically and vocally. The album has 14 original tracks, mixing EDM and pop sounds to give us a transcendent production of self-exploration.
The album holds the listeners from start to finish, as each track is individual to the next. Her production style is littered with deep hooks, insane drops and glimpses metallic synths.
Alison Wonderland stands out with her collaborations with incredibly talented artists and producers like Chief Keef, Trippie Redd, and Buddy
AWAKE’s biggest EDM tracks ‘Happy Place’, ‘Here For You’, and ‘Good Enough’ keep to Alison Wonderlands original style of a solid base and sick trap beats.
Meanwhile, her more pop-inspired tracks ‘No’, ‘Okay’, ‘Church’ and ‘Easy’ reveal emotionally charged lyrics and smashes genre limitations by producing each track with honesty and symphonic originality.
Alison Wonderland’s sophomore album has lived up to its expectations and beyond by showing off her raw talent and passion for making music that seems therapeutic for her and gives undeniable happiness for her audience.
