Sweden

By Jesse Kemp-Segedin

Team: Sweden

Nickname: Blågult (The Blue-Yellow)

World Cup appearances: 11

World ranking: 24

Coach: Janne Andersson

Captain: Andreas Granqvist

Player to watch: Emil Forsberg
Having played strongly for Leipzig in the Bundesliga season in Germany, the pacy 26-year-old winger will look to continue his run of good form in the World Cup. Forsberg will look to be the creator of Sweden’s attack through his speed, and strong crossing and passing games.

NowUC predictor:
Having come out on top of the likes of the Netherlands and Italy throughout the qualifying process, Sweden have high hopes of progressing to the round-of-16. But in Group F that contains defending champions Germany, the Swedes will need to best Mexico and South Korea to secure the second qualifying spot for the knockout stage. Even if they were to do so, they would most likely find themselves matching up against five-time World Cup champions Brazil.
