Relax and Unwind with these 5 Activities in Canberra

Turn off your phone and put the ‘do not disturb’ sign on your day, while you make time for yourself and get involved in an activity that will have you feeling calm and rejuvenated. With a stroll through the Botanical Gardens, a beautiful lunch paired with a wine tasting, a picnic on the lake, painting with a glass of wine or even a staycation, there is plenty of ways to relax in Canberra.

Australian National Botanical Gardens

Connect yourself with Australian Flora at the Botanical Gardens and appreciate all the beautiful native flowers and plants from all over the country. Walk through the lush rainforest gully or stroll past the Asteraceae Garden and let the beauty of the gardens put your mind at ease. Also, be on the lookout for the animals that live amongst the gardens.

Wine Tasting

Take a scenic drive just outside of Canberra and spend your Sunday looking out onto a picturesque vineyard, while you try some of the cool climate wines Canberra is famous for. Try a rosé, white or red tasting flight with homemade pizza from Four Winds Winery, a wine tasting followed by an excellent dinner at the Olleyville Restaurant at Shaw Wines, or see what all the fuss is about and try Clonakilla’s Shiraz Viognier that has won multiple wine of the year awards in Australia, at their cellar door.

Picnic

With some beautiful lakeside and garden locations around the capital, why not utilise the lovely space and picnic in the sun with friends. Grab a pizza from the city, paired with your favourite bottle of wine, and take it down to Lake Burley Griffin or the beautiful Lennox Gardens. Relax amongst the green grass as you enjoy the fresh air. Or go walking around the National Arboretum and find a secluded spot with views of the lake and surrounds.

Paint & Wine Class

Be led through a guided painting session with an experienced artist to help you create your own masterpiece. Paint Pinot Braddon understands that sometimes you need a little wine to get the creative juices flowing, so as a part of their class they offer some bubbles and wine and also delicious nibblies to make the whole experience a memorable one. Pialligo Estate’s watercolour art workshop in their beautiful Garden Pavilion helps you bring out your creative side with local wines and a charcuterie board. And The Social Creative is popping around some of Canberra’s best bars to combine painting with just the right amount of alcohol.
