Breaking Bad Season 5 Review

Despite Breaking Bad debuting at the beginning of 2008, viewers can continue to appreciate the television series ongoing success. With its high-octane drama, superb acting, characterisation and gripping plot, it is not hard to understand the show’s popularity.

Season 5 Part 1 presents main character Walter White (Bryan Cranston) becoming increasingly reckless and morally questionable. In earlier seasons, there was what is viagra soft tabs a sense that Walt’s meth operation existed purely for the purpose of providing for his family. However, in this season the audience learns that Walt’s intentions are far darker.

His pride and his ego are on display here, and his thirst to be the best at something causes him to behave in a way that the viewer never would have predicted. Suddenly, the viewer starts questioning whether or not they are actually on Walt’s side.

Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) plays an intriguing role in this season. Increasingly he begins to question his own morals, and gets plagued by guilt as he continues to ‘cook’ methamphetamine. He knows that his and Walt’s actions have resulted in many deaths or near deaths in the past, and it causes him to sink into misery. Meanwhile, he notices that Walt himself appears to be almost completely devoid of human emotion, which causes Jesse to see a side of Walt that he never knew existed.

Overall, the first half of this season manages to maintain high quality right throughout its eight episodes, culminating in a maddening cliffhanger that will leave the viewer desperate to learn what will happen next. Part 2 is scheduled to air in June 2013, and will conclude what has been five years of magnificent television drama. Even though the series is coming to a close, it is worthwhile revisiting it to fully understand its appeal.
