Regret, rolled ankles and electrocution are not enough to stop couch potatoes or fitness warriors participating in extreme fitness events.

The Crusher’s team formed jokingly over drinks one evening in anticipation of Tough Mudder now band together to conquer the next fitness obstacle course.

Team mate Jaz describes what it is like to be part of the team.

“Being a team member of The Crushers is like being in a family, laughing at each other when one of us axes ourself on an obstacle, its for the memories, the physical pain that we all feel for the following week and knowing that we wouldn’t change it for a second. We do it for the bragging rights and yes we will admit it’s hard but we know that we can do it”.

This year the team is now headed to conquer Operation Blackhawk which is on this weekend and later this year Call of the Beast.

Teammate Jaz does spontaneous 10km runs, brothers Darren and Steve have been walking up Mount Taylor daily and the newest addition to the team Nigel has been hiking up mountains with weighted backpacks.

The next equally grueling and physically demanding team challenge is Operation Blackhawk: 7km in length, 40 obstacles, camouflage gear and weighted backpacks.

Operation Blackhawk is a genuine themed military obstacle course, testing camaraderie, teamwork and endurance for the average couch potato or fitness warrior and is on this weekend on the 28th and 29th of March.

Call of the Beast, Tough Mudder, The Spartan Race and Operation Blackhawk are trending and are all part of the latest fitness addiction.

This time around some team members have thought it wise to do some training prior to the big day.

The Crushers team for Operation Blackhawk will be close to 20 members, the biggest question here being who will be pulling who over the finish line? The old bulls or the young and allegedly fit youths.

The team’s ultimate goal is to be able to walk the next day.
