Back Again – The Bungendore Harvest Festival

Following its successful debut last year, the Bungendore Harvest Festival has had another busy weekend supporting local businesses and produce of the small rural town.

As this year’s event focused on cooking with fresh and local produce, Saturday’s festivities had the main streets lined with tents of local food, as well as a cooking demonstration and Q&A organised for the afternoon.

Bronte Morgan, the publicist for the event says last year’s festival was so successful that it has resulted in an increase of stallholders from 35 stalls last year, to over 60 this year.’

The stalls featured five local wineries, including Contentious Character who were new on the scene last year.

Also returning to the festival was the famous Cannoli Brothers food stall, who sold out by midday at last years’ event.

‘We have come well prepared this year,’ said Josh Zombo, who was working at the stall on Saturday.

‘We sold 600 Cannoli’s last year, so we brought 1000 today.’

The morning started with the annual Dachshund Fashion Parade, as people crowded around to watch the dogs strut around the Festival Green.

The afternoon’s events included a grape stomping event on Harvest Way, as well as an array of live entertainment on the Festival Green.

The return of the festival was a success for the small town, promoting both local businesses and produce, which will continue to grow and develop in years to come.
