Three memorable movies that had an impact on us during our childhoods

For people out there who are floating through their 20s, I’m sure, like me, you often feel yourself slipping into the monotony of adulthood; staying in at night and learning the tricks of the trade on MasterChef can seem like a fantastic way to spend an evening.

However, for those times when you feel like a child trapped in an adult’s body, I find it’s best to rekindle that childhood  innocence by watching one of the movies that made an impact on you as a child.

1. Small Soldiers (1998): Badass film for the whole family

The movie is set in the late 90s and is a story about an independent toy company being taken over by Globotech Industries, the friendly military tech giant next door. In the hunt to develop the ultimate children’s toy, Globotech, using military grade microchips, design action figures that can play, fight, walk and talk back. Alan Abernathy, played by Gregory Smith, discovers selling toys isn’t so easy when the toys come to life and wreak havoc on his father’s toy store.

2. Home Alone (1990): Don’t mess with Kevin McAllister

This action packed film is a staple of the Christmas season’s movie guide. When Kevin McAllister’s (played by Macaulay Culkin) family leave him ‘home alone’, with no rules or parents around to tell him what to do, Kevin lives every child’s dream. Faced with burglars who are trying to break into his house, 10-year-old Kevin must grow up very quickly in order to defend his home.

3. Wallace and Gromit in the Wrong Trousers (1993): Animated fun filled film for the whole family

The second in a series of four short films; eccentric inventor Wallace and his loyal canine companion Gromit are caught with their pants down when their new house guest steals a pair of robotic trousers. Their friendship is put to the test as they work together to try and stop the evil penguin from carrying out his terrible plan.
