The 100 Season 1 Review

The 100 Season 1 DVD

The television adaption of Kass Morgan’s book series, The 100 is an incredibly innovative, fresh and much needed addition to the Science Fiction genre.

The show begins 100 years after the Earth has become unlivable in the aftermath of a nuclear war. The small number of humans left alive live upon ‘The Ark’ a space station that was designed to keep the human race alive until the radiation levels on Earth dropped back to a livable level.

But as the Arks’ systems begin to fail, the Chancellor of the Ark, played by the fantastic Isaiah Washington, makes the choice to send 100 juvenile prisoners down to the Earth’s surface to determine whether or not the Earth may be inhabitable.

The show is extremely exciting and tension filled and will have you going ‘oh, just one more episode’ at the end of every single episode.

The 100 delves into the very nature of humanity as characters are faced with morally and ethically challenging situations and at the same time takes it all back to the very basics as the human race are stripped of technology, and are forced to do anything and everything to ensure their survival.

Starting with a fantastically executed storyline, you then throw in a bunch of seriously cool characters like leading lady, Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor), who could give Katniss Everdeen a run for her money, and Bellamy Blake (Bob Morley) whose grey ethics and bad boy charisma give him some awesome edge, and voila, you have one genuinely captivating, thrilling show that you will not want to stop watching.

Years down the road when the show has ended, this show will undoubtedly be remembered as one of Sci-Fi’s greats.

Season 1 gets a 9/10.
