World's Greatest Shave

greatest shave collageThe World’s Greatest Shave is an event held annually to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Between the 10th and 13th of March, over 150,000 people were “brave and shaved”.
Three of those men were middle-aged and with little hair; Brad Dawson, Harvey Leonard and Ian McIntosh shaved their heads in front of a small crowd on Friday 18th March.
Other participants choose to colour or wax their hair.
To date, over 10 million dollars has been raised for the Leukaemia Foundation.
This foundation raises money for those diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma or a related blood disorder.
Leukaemia is cancer affecting the blood; lymphoma is cancer of the lymphatic system; and myeloma is cancer that affects plasma, the white blood cells that help the body to fight off disease.
Each day 34 people are diagnosed with one of these illnesses.
Chloe Leonard, a daughter of one of the participants said the men were keen to support those they’ve known who have suffered from cancer.
“Most of them being in country areas where it was hard to seek treatment,” she said.
The trio raised $1945.30.
