LIFE Inside the Spiegeltent

The circus came to town and brought with them a magnificent line up of acts spanning across 22 nights. Spiegeltent returned to Canberra after their successful 2018 show to present a variety of wondrous and quirky entertainment from across the globe.

From 29 March until 21 April, LIFE: The Show put together a night inside the Spiegeltent, combining burlesque and comedy as they tour through all the ups and downs of life.

LIFE: The Show, Marketing Coordinator Michelle Cheung said, “We were incredibly amp-ed up and excited to have brought the Spiegeltent back to Canberra after spectacular public engagement last year.”

In the heart of Canberra, the world seemed to disappear as you stepped inside the lively and colorful circus tent. LIFE: The Show was a whirlwind of entertainment, comedy, songs, dance and acrobatics. I was thrown into a world of color in their exceptional story telling.

“LIFE The Show took relatable aspects of modern life and blew them up into exaggerated circus-cabaret acts. [The acts] simultaneously thrilled the senses and prompted a little bit of reflection on this crazy thing we all experience called life. The show says it’s good to be alive and that we should celebrate the human condition and all of its quirks,” says Cheung.

LIFE had the audience holding their breaths and staring in awe at the gravity-defying acrobatics, laughing at the range of silly and over the top quirkiness, and even the odd nodding of heads to the relatable balancing acts.

The show presented incredibly talented actors, acrobats and singers from across the globe with the likes of Goos Meeuwsen and Helena Bittencourt from Cirque du Soleil delighting us as they clowned around and had the audience laughing out loud.

As for adult-rated entertainment LIFE: The Show got down and dirty on stage.

From extinguisher foam spraying across the stage to represent the thrill of first love, to two acrobats climbing their way through a plastic tube in representing human fertilisation – it’s safe to say the performance was one of artistic prowess taking the mickey out of life’s hardships.

LIFE was easily relatable and humorous.
